HTI classes are designed to train professionals in the core knowledge to practice horticultural therapy. Focus is on the "Horticultural Therapy Specialization" area of the AHTA Core Curriculum, with an emphasis on synthesis of and practical application of knowledge. All classes have been approved by AHTA as an accredited workshop at 0.4 points.

To earn the certificate in Horticultural Therapy from the HT Institute, students must successfully complete all five courses including out-of-class assignments.


Horticulture Methods For Therapy Programs

Class Overview:

This course will teach methods for adapting tools, environments and tasks to enable clients in HT programs to fully participate in gardening activities. Considerations and solutions for indoor and outdoor garden design will be presented, as well as management of the horticulture site. The applied use of tools, raised beds, and other modifications is stressed. This course is generally offered in the Spring or
