Course Description

HTI WorkshopThis course teaches specialized growing techniques that are effective in various healthcare, human service and educational environments. The emphasis is on growing methods for raised garden beds, therapy greenhouses and indoor growing without a greenhouse. Design and plant selection for successful growing and therapeutic programming are also included.

Course Objectives

Students will gain the skills to:

  • Use horticulture techniques that are suitable for healthcare, human service and educational settings.
  • Select appropriate plants for successful growing and to support program goals
  • Design raised beds for accessibility and programming
  • Adopt successful practices for growing in raised beds.
  • Plan indoor and outdoor gardening spaces to fit the physical site, population served, and program goals.

April 13-14, 2012
The Gardens on Spring Creek, Fort Collins, Colorado

Class fees: $425 or $340 for full-time college students with proof of student status.
Optional: 1 semester credit or 1.5 CEU’s from Colorado State University for an additional fee.
